Stories, Surprises, and a Dash of Sass: The Adventure Begins

So… I’m finally starting a blog. I know, I know—talk about being just a wee bit late to the party. But truly, I’m here for a handful of reasons, and I thought it only fair to spill them all right up front.

First, I just flat-out love to write. I was that kid who actually looked forward to writing essays in school or coming up with poems. (There’s always that one nerdy one! Hi, it’s me.) Short stories, rhymes, notes in lunchboxes—I wrote them all. Sometimes goofy, sometimes sappy, always heartfelt. I’ve been known to post a silly rhyme for my husband on the coffee maker, or sneak a “roses are red…” note into my kids’ bags (while my intention was to let them know I was thinking about them, I’m sure they thought my main motive was just to embarrass them), but also because, well, I can’t help myself. Words are my happy place.

Second, my kids are now “grown and flown” (or at least halfway there—17 and 20, for those keeping score). And somewhere along the way, between all the school activities, chauffering them here, there, and everywhere, PTO meetings, endless bake sales, and last-minute Target runs, I picked up a few things. Not expert-level things, mind you—there’s no certificate hanging on my wall for Surviving Motherhood or Getting Through Life in One Piece. But I’ve got stories and hard-earned wisdom, and I figure, why not share? Maybe something I’ve learned the hard (and usually hilarious) way will make your day a little smoother, or at least make you laugh at my expense. (My family certainly does!)

My real hope? That this little corner of the internet becomes a place where you can drop in, read a story, and leave feeling just a tiny bit better—or at least a little less alone. I want to combine my love of language, my gift for gab, and my “been there, done that, got the souvenir” vibe to create a space that feels like a chat with a friend.

So thanks for being here at the very start. I can’t wait to see where this goes—and I’m honestly so glad you’re along for the ride.
